For the past 28 years, Coffman Park has been a place of celebration and education on all things Irish during the first weekend of August. With more than 100,000 guests expected to attend, and over 500 performers showcasing their cultural gifts, our local festival has become the largest three-day Irish Festival on the planet.
There is something for everyone at the Dublin Irish Festival. There is a Culture area providing a great place to understand more about Irish History, learn some traditional Irish skills, and even discovery more about your own ancestry.
The Wee folk area is the perfect place for kids and families to experience performances specially catered to kids, interact with each other while making Irish-inspired crafts, attend a Fairy Tea party, and play for hours in the Pot o’Gold Playland. Children under 12 are free to enter the festival and can enjoy the play area all day long with the purchase of a $10 wristband.
My favorite part of the festival is getting to sample the wide variety of food and drinks, and browsing for gifts and souvenirs at the festival’s marketplace. With over 40 different food vendors offering everything from traditional Celtic fair to modern American staples, the entire family will be fully satisfied. Beverages of all varieties can be purchased with drink tokens available at multiple locations throughout the festival for $2 each. Special beer and whiskey tastings are also offered multiple days/times during the festival.
If you haven’t experienced the Dublin Irish Festival yet, I urge you to give it a try. It has become a cherished tradition for the locals, and for visitors all over the region. Stop by to check out the Irish bands, watch some traditional Irish dancing, learn more about the culture, or just hang with the family and indulge in some great food and drinks. There truly is something for everyone to enjoy at the Largest 3-Day Irish Festival in the World!
