If you’re planning a Florida beach vacation, you’ve probably heard of Clearwater Beach.
It’s famous for a reason.
But here’s a little secret:
You don’t have to stay on Clearwater Beach to have an amazing Clearwater-area vacation.
In fact, if you’re traveling with family or a group, there are some pretty good reasons to stay just a little farther south.
Our vacation home, Indian Rocks Sunset Retreat on the Water, puts you in the heart of the Indian Rocks Beach / Clearwater Beach area, close enough to enjoy everything the Gulf Coast has to offer while giving you a little more room to relax.
Indian Rocks Beach Has a Different Feel
Indian Rocks Beach is a laid-back Gulf Coast community with beautiful beaches, local restaurants and a much more relaxed atmosphere than some of the busier beach destinations nearby.
That’s one of the reasons I like it.
You can spend the morning walking the beach, looking for shells and swimming in the Gulf.
Then grab lunch.
Head back to the house.
Jump in the pool.
And you’re still close enough to Clearwater Beach, St. Pete and all the other attractions when you want more action.
It’s the best of both worlds.
The Beach Is the Main Event
Let’s be honest.
You’re coming to Florida for the beach.
And Indian Rocks Beach delivers.
The community has numerous public beach access points, and the shoreline is known for its relaxed atmosphere and family-friendly swimming.
It’s also a great place to catch a sunset.
And if you want to explore beyond the sand, the area has kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing, nature trails and other outdoor activities.
And Clearwater Beach Is Close
Want the full Clearwater Beach experience?
Go for it.
Spend the day on the beach.
Walk the Beach Walk.
Check out Pier 60.
Take a dolphin tour.
Get out on the water.
Clearwater Beach is only one part of the vacation, not necessarily the place you need to sleep every night.
That’s the advantage of staying in Indian Rocks.
You can visit Clearwater Beach without having to live in Clearwater Beach.
And You Have Plenty of Other Options
One day might be Clearwater Beach.
Another might be Indian Rocks Beach.
Another might be Indian Shores.
You can head south toward John’s Pass.
Or spend the day exploring St. Pete.
Or maybe you don’t go anywhere.
That’s the beauty of having your own vacation home.
You don’t have to schedule every minute.

The House Is Part of the Vacation
That’s why I wanted this property to be more than just a place to sleep.
It’s a 4-bedroom vacation home with a heated pool, giving families and groups room to spread out.
After a day at the beach, you can come home, get in the pool and relax.
No hotel lobby.
No crowded resort pool.
No sitting around waiting for somebody else to finish using the space.
You’re home.

Traveling With Kids?
This is where having a vacation house really pays off.
The beach is fun.
But kids don’t necessarily want to sit on the beach for eight straight hours.
Having a house gives everyone options.
- Beach in the morning.
- Pool in the afternoon.
- Dinner together.
- Maybe another swim after dinner.
Then everybody gets to spread out and relax.
That’s a much different experience than putting a family of five into a hotel room.
And Then There’s the Food
One of the things I like about this part of the Gulf Coast is that you don’t have to eat at chain restaurants every night.
Indian Rocks Beach has plenty of local options along Gulf Boulevard, from casual beach food to seafood and sit-down restaurants.
A few places visitors may want to check out include:
- Guppy’s On the Beach
- Keegan’s Seafood Grille
- The Original Crabby Bill’s
And sometimes the best dinner is simply picking up something good and bringing it back to the house.
One Vacation. Lots of Choices.
That’s really what I like about this location.
You’re not locked into one type of vacation.
You can have:
- Beach days
- Pool days
- Family days
- Restaurant nights
- Water adventures
- Quiet mornings
- Sunset walks
- Or absolutely nothing planned at all
Sometimes that’s the best part.
Why I Chose This Location
When I bought and remodeled this property, I wasn’t looking for a place where people could simply spend the night.
I wanted a place where families and friends could actually enjoy being together.
A place with enough bedrooms.
A private heated pool.
Space to spread out.
And easy access to one of the best stretches of Florida’s Gulf Coast.
That’s what this home is about.
You’re close to Indian Rocks Beach, about 5 minutes away.
You’re close to Clearwater Beach, about 10 minutes away.
You’re close to everything else the area has to offer.
But when you come back to the house, you can close the door and relax.
That’s the vacation.
